However, he continued to write and in 2006 he completed a full length play to be used as a vehicle for him and his colleagues. Before putting it on stage he decided to produce it as a film. Only a couple of months after wrapping, the stage version previewed as part of the Lambeth Riverside Arts Festival - all of which happened within seven months.

Freestyle Productions was first set up to helm these productions. Dan continued writing and acting throughout the following year and in January 2008 he began a collaborative filmmaking group to make micro budget short films under the banner of ‘Short Shorts’. Through this group Dan worked on various projects with budgets of no more than £30 and had the opportunity to meet some talented and enthusiastic individuals whom he would continue to work with on future projects, including making actors’ showreels, which he directs too.

Other than producing his own productions Dan works as a professional actor and fight director in all areas of the industry. He has also been an assistant director on six professional pantomimes and nine musicals, a director, a floor manager, stage manager, assistant stage manager, camera operator, vision mixer in a TV studio, casting director, writer, editor, designer, rigger, production assistant and best boy. Dan can also be seen in the film playing Jericho’s best friend Steve.

Lance Nielsen - Writer/Director/Co-Producer - To read an interview with Lance click here
Lance Nielsen is a British Film maker who was raised in South London.
